K9 Heros

Heros K9K9 Heros

Broward Sheriff’s Office TSA EOD
End of Watch: Wednesday, May 4, 2022

K9 Heros was first assigned to the US Army then transferred to the TSA EOD program and assigned to Deputy Brian Donnelly at the Broward County Sheriff’s Office in August 2013. Since then he was more than a dog or partner but a best friend. For 9 years K9 Heros secured the guests and employees at the Fort Lauderdale Airport with countless training missions and searches.

During his shift on Wednesday May 4, 2022 K9 Heros developed a medical issue and was taken to the vet and combined with his age, the decision was made that he had done his duty with pride and distinguished service and it was time to say goodbye.

At 1429 hours, the Broward Sheriff’s Office held all police radio traffic and announced that:
“K9 Heros / T197 was now 10-7” as he passed away. He was surrounded by the other members of the K9 team who all placed a hand on K9 Heros as he passed in peace and comfort.

K9 Heros was 18 days short of his 12th birthday which also made him the oldest working K9 at the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

Personal Note:
If God asked to create the perfect police K9 I would say thank you but You already did… and his name was Heros
